Nick and I decided to celebrate our first married Christmas together in Boston after discovering we had no vacation time left from our year full of traveling. Although it was warm and all the snow was melting away, the day was really nice and relaxing.
I attempted to bake my first completely homemade apple pie this afternoon. I used my grandma Heimburg’s pie crust recipe, and used my favorite apple pie filling recipe. I think it turned out pretty well considering it was my first time with the crust. I had all these horrible pictures in my head of it turning out misshapen and hideous. However, there were a few casualties in the making of this pie.
Ever heard of Krampus? Yeah, me neither until I was scanning Etsy this morning, bored at work. I found this lovely ornament – only $30 guys! No one should have to discover this before 10:00 a.m. Beware…
And then, even more snow. Last night it snowed another foot after the foot it snowed on Thursday. Wow. I have not seen this much snow since I lived in Colorado. Our first real Nor’easter. We spent about an hour shoveling out our car, but as you will see by the looks of our street, we won’t be taking the car anywhere until this craziness melts off. Thanks landlord for refusing to have our street plowed!
Oh Christmas tree. Check out our Charlie Brown-esque tree. We spent last night decorating the tree with what meager supplies we have. Note the cute and slightly creepy owl ornament turned tree topper.
