It’s been a Rick Astley filled week at work, and outside of work as well. And now YouTube is getting in on some of this sweet Astley action by RickRolling us all for April Fool’s day. Seriously, try it. Go to YouTube and click on any of the “featured videos” on their front page…Enjoy.

Taste Nostalgia

One of the things I miss the most about living in Gainesville is Krishna Lunch. We always sat for hours in the grass with our friends, talking and eating unlimited Krishna cuisine for $3. My (and I think everyone’s) favorite Krishna lunch was Spaghetti Wednesday. So tonight, I decided to recreate the meal, and it was soooooooooooo good.

Vegan Blueberry Scones

Last weekend I was watching PBS’ foodie Saturday shows, and saw some delicious looking blueberry scones made on America’s Test Kitchen. So sitting here, on my “work from home” day, I decided to make a vegan version of their very decadent recipe.

These turned out really delicious, soft and flaky. The one thing I didn’t think of was that the vegan margarine I use is already pretty salty, so they turned out a little less sweet than the recipe intends. If you are using pre-salted vegan margarine, I would recommend leaving out the 1/2 tsp salt in this recipe.

Boston BoldSprints

A side project of Nick’s…Sunday night was the second Boston BoldSprints event. BoldSprints is an indoor roller racing event where participants compete head-to-head on their own fixed-gear bikes. It is meant to simulate racing on a real velodrome.

Version Targeting

We web designers love to whine about how our beautiful standards-based code never works in Internet Explorer 6. For some time now I’ve been using CSS Browser Selector for those little padding tweaks that always seem necessary in Internet Explorer. However, the question is should we have to do this? (Or worse, use CSS hacks which could, and did, make more trouble in future IE versions.) Of course not.
